Dosing of Powders and Powder Mixing Plants
Dosing and mixing of powders can be done batch vise or continuously ( inline )
Batch vise
Batch vise the powder and granulate is dosed into the mixer where it is going to be mixed with other components. Measuring of the amount of powder can be done by weighing of the component manually, in a weighing tank, with a dosing device on load cells or by placing the mixer on load cells.
Volumetric dosing is a cost effective but less accurate option.
In the mixer the components will be blended to homogenous mix.
There are many types of mixers: Ribbon blenders, conical screw mixers, twin shaft paddle mixers, ploughshare mixers, tumble mixers etc. Each has its advantages and strengths.
Liquids can be mixed and absorbed into the powder as an option to, standardize the product, regarding fat or moisture content or to form agglomerates or to make a coating.
Inline dosing
Inline dosing is a process where the powders and granulates are dosed and mixed in a continous mixer integrated in the process plant. Inline dosing and mixing is a very good solution for continuous running processes, where the demands of accuracy are secondary.
The different powders and granulates can be measured by volumetric dosing, or by dosing from a device placed on load cells ( dosing band, dosing screw, dosing vibrator etc.)
